AI Horde is a free, open-source, community-driven distributed computing platform that facilitates AI image and text generation. It allows anyone to use advanced AI models like Stable Diffusion and various large language models (LLMs) directly from a browser or app, without requiring a high-end GPU. The platform operates with the support of volunteers who donate spare computing power from their GPUs. In exchange, contributors receive priority access and faster processing times. AI Horde maintains an active community, which provides support and monitors usage through a virtual token called Kudos. There’s also a dedicated Discord server available; you can join using their invite link.
As an anonymous user, you can still make image requests, but:
- Your activity will not be tracked, meaning you won’t earn any priority or credits.
- During high system load, access for anonymous users may be restricted.
- You will miss out on features such as saving generation history and managing multiple keys.
- Your requests will have lower priority, leading to longer wait times.
Although registration is not mandatory to use AI Horde, contributing GPU resources, if possible, significantly benefits the project by enhancing its capacity, especially for those without access to expensive hardware.
